History
The Lyman School was originally founded by Donald E. Lyman, Ph.D., as the Alliance Academies of Central Florida, providing specialized education for students who learn differently. In 2005, the school became The Lyman School and continues to offer students who were struggling in mainstream classrooms an environment where they can truly thrive
As the need for alternative teaching methods grew, the Lyman School relocated several times to better serve families. Today, we're excited to have found our forever home in Winter Park, which offers wonderful opportunities for development and expansion.
With this move, we've expanded our programs and opened The Lyman Learning Institute, specifically designed for students who need additional specialized instruction, practical life skills, job preparation, and support in developing self-acceptance and motivation to learn.

As a school community, we are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing academic environment based on the educational philosophies of Dr. Donald E. Lyman and
Dr. Maria Montessori.
Our approach serves both mainstream students and individuals who learn differently. The Lyman School adapts to each child's learning style through individualized educational plans that help every child excel within their unique intellectual profile.

Please plan on spending about an hour on your tour.
If possible, have your child with you so that the director can spend some time getting to know them. If your child can not attend, another appointment will be required.
Please bring any relevant information regarding your child, i.e.,
school records, IEP's and evaluations.
