The Lyman Program
The Lyman Program teaches foundational literacy skills—reading, writing, and spelling—by leveraging the brain’s natural learning processes. This program is grounded in the science of reading, which emphasizes phonological awareness, decoding, and the development of fluent reading skills through structured, multi-sensory instruction. Rather than relying on traditional direct teaching methods, the program uses a kinesthetic approach, where the child learns by engaging their body in coordinated movement, rhythm, and memory activities.
This method mirrors the way children naturally acquire spoken language—through immersion, practice, and habit formation.

A child constructs knowledge by exploring, discovering, interacting with and manipulating his environment.
A strong bond with the child and family is formed over the three years the child is with the teacher.
Children learn best when placed in
multi-age level groupings.
A child learns based on personal interest and sensitivities to things in his environment.
A child, given the freedom of choice within limits, will develop inner discipline and a sense of order and focus which will guide him through a lifetime of learning.
The prepared environment should be rich with multi-sensory, sequential and self-regulating materials which facilitate the child’s independent work.

If possible, have your child with you so that the director can spend some time getting to know them. If your child can not attend, another appointment will be required.
Please bring any relevant information regarding your child, i.e.,
school records, IEP's and evaluations.
